Alternative Energy Source Using Wood Pellets and Stoves

What are alternative sources of energy? Well basically an alternative energy source is anything other than the conventional or traditional sources of energy. However in this case is a bit of the reverse. For example, here I'm going to be talking about using wood pellets and biomass pellets as the alternative source of energy to oil, gas and coal. However, we obviously used wood and sources of biomass as energy before we ever used oil, gas or coal. The reasons we are now moving back to used wood and biomass energy is simple. Firstly wood and biomass energy is a renewable source of energy, which basically means we can replace it with more wood and biomass, unlike oil, gas and coal.

Well strictly speaking, we can replace oil, gas and coal as they are made from natural resources, the issue is time. Oil, gas and coal were formed from thousands and millions of years of compression, the problem is we consume these resources at a rate which massively exceeds the rate this natural process takes place to repeat the process. However, if we can used certain wood and biomass resources effectively, we can replace these resources within the life cycle of their consumption. One of the best materials for this is actually hemp. Hemp has a 3 month growing cycle from seed to harvest, and can produce fuel which burns in a very similar fashion to wood. However, there is no wood species which has a 3 month growing cycle. Hence the advantages of hemp.

So we know have covered the benefits of wood and biomass materials such as hemp, but where do pellets come in and pellet stoves. Well, in its raw form biomass has different moisture content, different densities, is bulky and generally hard to deal with and burn properly. By processing wood and biomass materials such as hemp into fuel pellets we are producing a uniform fuel, which can be burnt highly efficiently in automated pellet stoves and boilers. However, the pellet stove and boiler market has been too dependant on wood pellets, and has neglected the biomass fuel pellet market. Therefore too many pellet stoves can only burn premium grade wood pellets. However there are more fuel flexible pellet stoves and pellet boilers which can burn fuel pellets such as hemp pellets, you just need to know what to look for and that is what this website is about.
