Why Buy Pellet Stoves And The Advantages of Wood Pellet Fuel So, lets presume you are currently heating your home with a fossil fuel system such as an oil or gas heating unit, why would you consider using a pellet stove to heat your home. Well the first and most obvious reason, is you probably just looked at your last heating bill. Heating with oil or gas can definitely no longer be referred to as cheap, in many cases now it cannot even be referred to as affordable. This would be an obvious reason to consider to buy a pellet stove, as you heating bill could be as much as 50% of you current gas or oil bill. But why a pellet stove, and not a cheaper log stove. On the face of it a log stove is cheaper and the fuel is also cheaper, a win, win? Well, no, firstly though the fuel maybe cheaper on first impression it contains around 30% more moisture than wood pellets, and burns less efficiently so you need more fuel to generate the same heat value, this means you end up spending more on logs than pellets |

Wood Pellets Are Carbon Neutral and Can Help Reduce Climate Change Its is now clearer than ever, that through our consumption of fossil fuels we have been and still are having a detrimental effect on the environment, and more specifically the climate. When we burn fuels such as oil and gas, we produce carbon emissions such as carbon dioxide, carbon dioxide acts as an insulator in the atmosphere keeping heat within the atmosphere. The more fossil fuels we burn the more this effect becomes noticeable increased the global temperature over time. To stop this effect, we need to stop increase carbon dioxide emissions, and to do this we can use biomass and wood pellets as fuel. Biomass, such as wood captures carbon dioxide during growth and then released it during combustion, resulting in no net increase in the levels of carbon in the air. In fact biomass can even be carbon negative, as the ash is an excellent soil conditioner. When we put the ash back into the soil we are taking carbon from the atmosphere and returning it to the soil to be captured. |

However Not All Pellet Stoves Have The Same Abilities with Pellet Fuel As you would predict, the pellet stove market has grown quite rapidly over the last decade, and there are now a huge selection of pellet stoves to choose from. However the difference in the abilities of these stoves is also varies substantially, and in the core purpose of the stoves ability to burn pellets. Even simple differences such as pellet length can become an issue for some pellet stoves. As with poor designs pellets which are slightly too long can become trapped in the auger feed system leading to the burn pot. Helping You Buy The Best Value Pellet Stoves And Pellet Boilers We specialise in pellet manufacture and burning solutions, and we have personal experience of the range of pellet burner available. We therefore developed the pellet stove and boiler guide to help consumers buy more fuel flexible pellet stoves. Please click the link below to download the guide. |
