NEWS : Chinook Wood Pellet Stove Combustion Features and Abilities

At PelHeat we advocate the use of all biomass fuel pellets where appropriate, therefore we encourage consumers to purchase more fuel flexible pellet burners. The Chinook stove features a multi-fuel grate which can handle a wide range of pellet fuels. The literature states 'all grades of pellets', however that probably only refers to all grades of wood pellets currently on sale. Trying to burn other types of pellet fuel, for example certain energy crop pellets may be too much for the stove, only further inspection of the multi-fuel grate will show what the burner is really capable of. The stove is also promoted on the fact it can burn shelled corn and wheat. However burning food is a very morally questionable activity, and there are much better options to produce fuel pellets from the waste of those crops, not the food substance its self. However, with the ability to burn corn, it does show that the burner can handle high ash and clinker.

The Heat Output and The Area Of Space The Stove Can Properly Heat

The in-built hopper capacity of the Chinook wood pellet stove is 55lbs, this will provide the stove with enough fuel to run comfortably for up to 50 hours. One of the features which really makes the difference to the capabilities of a stove, is the ability to change the pellet feed rate. With the Chinook, its possible to change the feed rate between 1.25-6 lbs per hour. The factory setting of the stove leaves the internal thermostat between 17,000 and 42,000 Btu's. However, these settings can be reset back to between 10,000 and 50,000 Btu's. The stove has nine heat exchanger tubes with a strong convection blower. Heat from the exhaust gases pass through the heat exchanger tubes, then the convection blower takes that heat and spreads it into the room. The convection blower comes with 4 speed settings, also with an auto heat setting. The Chinook has a soft touch panel with 5 preset heat settings for the stove. Also, a fully automatic heat system thermostat to regulate temperature. A remote can also be used to operate the stove. An electric hot air igniter starts the stove.
