Wood Pellet Stove Features and How To Choose Quality Purchasing a good wood pellet stove when you have never purchased a wood pellet stove before can be a very tricky task. Wood pellet stoves bring a level of automation and control to the solid fuel stove market never seen before. The reason this is possible is wood pellet fuel is so standardised and consistent in size, length and density. For instance pellets flow through a hopper like a liquid fuel, then though a variable timed auger, you can feed the fire with the exact amount of fuel required to maintain a set temperature. However not all wood pellet stoves are made to the same quality. This means some wood pellet stoves have limitations on the fuel pellets they can uses and their efficency. |

Wood Pellet Stove Features and How To Choose Quality For instance, the main problems with some wood pellet stoves is that they are so closely designed the the specifications of premium wood pellet fuel. Premium wood pellet fuel is the industries highest standard of pellet fuel, which produces the lowest ash. There are a set of criteria premium wood pellet fuel manufacturers are supposed to meet, and some pellet stove manufacturers produce their products to these exact standards. The problem is, in the real world, the fuel does not always meet these standards, and this causes issues with some pellet stoves. For instance, if pellet length is too long on poor quality pellet stoves this can block the feed auger, or even damage the auger. This should not happen with a quality stove, which will just break the pellet to size. |

Wood Pellet Stove Features and How To Choose Quality The other issue that some wood pellet stoves experience, is issues dealing with higher levels of ash content. Again, this is due to designing the pellet stove too closely to the designs of premium pellet fuel. A good quality pellet stove or boiler should be able to deal with various levels of ash. Much of this is down to the design of the burn pot. The cheaper burn pots only use air to remove ash, where the more quality units use a more mechanical method. The advantages of been able to burn higher ash content fuels is you can burn locally made fuel pellets and much cheaper fuel pellets. For instance bio-pellets are made from other biomass materials, such as agricultural wastes, such as straw and corn cobs. These fuel pellets are becoming more common and support jobs. |
